The Mont Ventoux climbed by G4 ambassadors

Mont Ventoux, one of the most popular destinations for cyclists from all over the world! The Giant of Provence is part of this caste of passes the most famous and frequented by amateur cyclists. Its fame was made thanks to the Tour de France and its mythical and historical moments! This pass is at the origin of many stories, tragedies and fantastic epics! It is now the obligatory passage for cyclists from all over the world wishing to face it with a goal : to tame it!

The beautiful season, the vacations, it’s for all the moment to get on the bike and climb these mythical French passes like the Mont Ventoux: summit located in the Vaucluse department in Provence!
The summit is located at 1911 meters of altitude! You can climb the Mont Ventoux by its 3 faces: from Bédoin, Sault, Malaucène! The choice is yours!

The Mont Ventoux is a communion for all amateur cyclists, it has become the pilgrimage of cycling thanks to the Tour de France.

Today there are many cyclosportive events for Mont Ventoux such as the Lapierre Granfondo Mont Ventoux which is no less than 137 kilometers long. An increasingly fashionable place for cyclists in search of surpassing themselves.

A whole cycling industry has been created on the Mont Ventoux, and for the occasion we created last year an exclusive limited edition jersey in only 20 copies to pay tribute to the famous Mont Ventoux. G4 regularly creates exclusive jerseys for these fascinating mountain passes in France, such as La Planche des Belles Filles for the 2020 Tour de France, so stay tuned for more passes to come!

OUR AMBASSADORS

Our G4 ambassadors: Denis Brogniart and Edouard Bergeon tested the Mont Ventoux this summer!

The two amateur cyclists share the same passion for cycling which strongly links them and therefore tried their hand at the Giant of Provence during their summer vacations.
They both wore our G4 cycling clothes to feel comfortable during their efforts.

DENIS BROGNIART

Denis Brogniart, TV presenter but also passionate cyclist and ambassador of our high-end G4 brand, climbed the Mont Ventoux pass twice. The first time accompanied by his friend and starred chef and Meilleur Ouvrier de France 2004: Christophe Bacquié, and the second time with Jérome Chagnon, the CEO of France Giant.

Denis explains and makes us experience his climbs in the company of his cycling friends:

“The ascent of the Ventoux? A myth! Last year I started my adventure on the Mont Chauve by Sault, the easiest route. But I was a total neophyte. This summer, I came back twice, twice by Bedoin, two days apart.
What a treat despite the suffering and the many steep kilometers in the forest.
My first ascent was with the GIANT team, and in particular with France’s general manager Jerome Chagnon. My time was 1 hour and 51 minutes, with sublime weather and incredible joy at the finish before leaving for the Nesque gorges. I was thrilled to hoist the G4 colors to the top of the Ventoux. Special dedication to Geoffroy Lequatre, the clothes designer with whom I made my first real ascent to the grand colombier in the Alps.

Two days later, bis repetita! Again by Bedoin with Christophe Bacquié, three-star chef at Le Castellet, and Laurent Prudhomme, boss of Discovery in France. Another terrible foot, with more landmarks and the last 6 kilometers after the chalet Reynart as in a dream with legs that turn well and a rhythm that does not weaken. Result: 1 hour and 49 minutes, two minutes less than 2 days earlier! And above all better sensations. This is the job that comes back with my collector’s jersey G4 Nice 1920 in honor of the start of the Tour de France in Nice!
In short the Mont Ventoux, to try it is to adopt it. I will start again and I will still improve my time! In any case I hope! “

EDOUARD BERGEON

Edouard Bergeon, journalist and director, his first feature film is “Au nom de la Terre” with Guillaume Canet, nominated in 3 different categories at the César 2020, is also a former amateur cyclist, G4 ambassador and friend of Geoffroy Lequatre. He also took on Mont Ventoux last month in great company! Champions in all categories!

Edouard Bergeon tells us about his human and sporting adventure:

“That’s it! I climbed the mythical Mont Ventoux!
The conditions were ideal in this month of September. 20° and not too much wind. Departure from Bonnieux. A nice outing between friends that starts with a pass of about ten kilometers much more difficult than I imagined in the Vaucluse mountains. In the distance stands the Giant of Provence that we attack by Sault.

A long and gentle ascent. I am at my feet with my friends Emmanuel Delafon (La Chartreuse), Christophe Aribert (2 star chef) and Martin Fourcade. But you don’t hold back an Olympic and World Biathlon Champion for very long. Martin made his ascent, quietly, but twice as fast as us 🙂

A short break at the Raynard chalet to fill up the cans and the lunar scenery stands in front of us. I won’t hide the fact that I was afraid to climb these last mythical ramps.

In fact, I enjoyed every meter, every unique moment of this ascent. Cycling history marked by the exploits of champions. The many cyclists from all over the world on pilgrimage to Bald Mountain. Provence as far as the eye can see … It was magical. Even if I was badly positioned on a bike that wasn’t my size, I had a lot of fun. And to tell you I didn’t really suffer. Probably because I was fully dressed by G4 ! 🚴🚴🚴”

OUR G4 CLOTHING

Denis Brogniart has opted for the technical shorts and cycling jersey from the Nice 1920 collection created in the effigy of the city of Nice, the timeless jersey and Luxe shorts as well as the long-sleeved Sirocco windcheater. Indeed, the weather is always a little bit capricious at the top of the Mont Ventoux, the wind is quite strong even during summer time, so you should always carry your Sirocco cycling jacket with long or short sleeves, or your Flash windcheater with three-quarter sleeves!

Edouard chose him for his outing and this ascent, the Luxe cycling outfit to be comfortable thanks to the PROHD100 pad, as well as the Flash windproof jacket  to cover up on the way down.

We are proud to accompany our ambassadors during their cycling adventures and to live with them unique moments rich in emotion.
We thank them for their trust in our brand and our cycling apparel.
