WHAT'S YOUR BACKGROUND, STEVEN?

We asked him:

“A former Elite cyclist who became a consultant for sports brands and then communications manager for the French Triathlon Federation, in 2016 I decided to take a major turn in my life to follow my deepest aspirations: spending 120 days in Nepal to make the decision to leave everything behind and follow my adventure dreams to the end.

Adventure and transmission are my driving forces: Crossing the Himalayas by mountain bike, Namib Desert, Gobie Desert, Paris-Dakar in 20 days by bike, crossing Lake Baikal by bike, Lhasa-Kathmandu record, Kilimanjaro record by bike, Iran, Tibet, Lofoten in Norway, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, several summits in Nepal, Double Ironman, various victories in Ultra Endurance events: North cape 4000, Race Across France, Race Across Belgium, Transbalkan Race and a dozen podium finishes all over the Ultra planet.

I share this passion through my social networks and my documentary films broadcast at Film Festivals, on television and on on-demand program platforms.”

WHAT KIND OF CYCLING DO YOU LIKE?

“I'm an Ultra Endurance cyclist committed to the climate issue.

On a daily basis, I'm very careful about my carbon footprint, I'm vegetarian, consume as much local food as possible and prefer cycling, but that's not enough, we have to protect our planet's resources and natural spaces.

To carry out this project, I'll have to travel, possibly on the way back, so I've decided to offset 100% of my CO2 emissions. It is therefore 100% Carbon Neutral, offsetting the CO2 emissions of all project-related travel.

Offsetting in climate protection projects in developing and emerging countries, as well as in France and Europe: tree planting, recycling (credit-plastique), support for the development of sustainable energies, sustainable agriculture, preservation of biodiversity etc... worldwide, ecological education in schools.

Protecting the environment sometimes also means helping humans gain access to technologies that can limit their impact.”

HIS STORY WITH Geoffroy Lequatre & G4

He tells us:

“Geoffroy and I have had parallel careers, and he's a boy I respect a lot. He raced in some of the world's biggest teams at a time when cycling was very rock'n'roll.

He's always had an intimate relationship with creation, and we have something in common: I've always drawn, painted and listened to music from all horizons.

We met up a few years ago on the Tour Cycliste Nice Métropole and had a great time, so when I changed bike clothing suppliers this winter I called him right away.”

About the brand:

“This high-end brand is passionate, maintaining an intimate and historic relationship with cycling as well as with its customers. Geoffroy's creative touch is a G4 trademark.

I'd recommend this brand to all cycling enthusiasts, ultra or otherwise. Quality is essential in ultra cycling, and G4 products are always one step ahead.

I look forward to creating some beautiful and innovative products with the brand.”

THE BISTARAI ADVENTURE !

Steven tells us his story to come, the biggest challenge of his life, and what drove him to bring this project to reality:

"BISTARAI was born of my desire to push my limits while drawing attention to the beauty and fragility of our planet.

The idea was to combine extreme adventure with ecological awareness, by highlighting wild and often little-known places. Bistarai means slow down, take your time.

This will be an expedition where I use the bike as my main means of exploring difficult and wild terrain. It's a physical challenge, but also a human adventure, as it involves constantly adapting to changing conditions and immersing oneself in nature."

Indeed, the figures are quite insane,

BISTARAI : PARIS - MANASLU by bike, it's :
- 15 000 km / 120 000 D+
- Manaslu summit (the world's 8th highest peak) in mid-September, with unassisted approach by bike from Kathmandu.
- Summit at 8200m, without oxygen and with as few sherpas as possible for the ascent / a 3/4 month adventure approach!
