And, if you’re a fan of Formula 1 racing, you can visit the track at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit on Tuesday and Sunday evenings, where cyclists of all standards ride the 5.5km circuit as part of the TrainYas and StartYas programmes.

A two hour drive from Dubai and you’re in some spectacular mountain scenery too, where the country’s highest peak, Jebel Jais, climbs for a constant 22-mile climb on perfectly-surfaced roads to a snack bar at the summit, with stunning views all around you. When you’ve done, the beachfronts have some of the best hotels anywhere in the world, ensuring that your tired limbs can be looked after.

For the mountain bikers, the Hatta Trail Centre has 35 km of world class tracks to thrill you. Hatta Trail Centre is a first MTB Centre in the Middle East, and is a home to multiple cross country route of various grades that cater to all levels of ability from absolute beginners through to experienced riders. Yes, cycling genres of all types are developing fast in Dubai.
