The initial G4 collection comprised matching jerseys and bib shorts for the guys and a range of casual t-shirts (short and long-sleeved) and jackets for both sexes. To start with the brand was only available via the G4 website and at a select number of international sporting events.
But, blown away by the enthusiastic response to G4’s early collections, it wasn’t long before Geoffroy and Petra extended the range of cycling wear to take care of the ladies too. To promote their G4 brand, they enlisted a number of athlete ambassadors including current French cyclo-cross champion and reigning World and European bronze medallist, Lucie Chainel who certainly puts the products through the toughest of paces.
G4’s casual clothing also started getting noticed. In 2012, at the Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana, Eurosport’s reporters, cameramen and journalists wore G4 casual clothing. Joining their ranks and wielding a microphone for the Tour was none other than Petra herself who had previously performed a similar role at other major international sporting events. It was a partnership made in heaven.
Now G4 was gaining a world-wide following and many of its initial clients had become faithful repeat purchasers. The brand was fast becoming noticed and distribution extended to a select range of retailers.
The partnership with Eurosport was strengthened at last year’s centenary Tour de France. G4 designed not only a commemorative limited edition range of jackets, polo and t-shirts for Eurosport but also provided the cycling kit for Eurosport’s “The Ride”. The Oakley sponsored programme offered two amateurs, Jonas Stomberg and Remy Denost, the opportunity to ride with cycling legends Sean Kelly and Richard Virenque, as well as Pierre Rolland (Europcar) and Sky’s Chris Froome, on some of the Tour’s most iconic climbs.
The G4 designed Eurosport kit is unveiled at around 11 minutes into the above first episode and features prominently in the three subsequent episodes.
