Geoffroy Lequatre is an Ambassador for the inaugural Explore Nice-Metropole by Le Tour de France running from 8th to 14th June. With his former experience as a professional cyclist and long-term resident of the Cote d’Azur, Geoffroy was an obvious choice for ASO. In addition, G4 will be one of the event’s sponsors. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS DESIGN?
Explain your inspiration for the design for EXPLORE Nice Metropole? How did you start?
For this week-long challenge, I had to create a jersey you’d be happy to wear all week. In addition, it had to showcase the different formats of this unique race. The black base colour is both elegant and reflects the difficulty of the event while yellow refers to the French Riviera sunshine and azure blue to the city of Nice. Lastly, the reflection of the mountains in the sea symbolises the geographic situation of the French Riviera, between the mountains and the sea. My design had to reflect the passage of the participants through stunning scenery and on testing terrain.

My broad experience as a professional cyclist is always fundamental to the design process. The kit is developed only after extensive testing to ensure a comfortable and ergonomic fit for all body types and for both road racing and time-trialling disciplines. We use a mix of three new generation fabrics which give an aerodynamic fit and have excellent moisture wicking properties. The jersey is form-fitting with plenty of pro-detailing such as a shorter collar and laser cut sleeves which is just what you need for a demanding week on the bike
